Not only does Obeetee work with 16,000 independent weavers, but it uses skin safe dyes and chemicals to ensure their welfare.

Obeetee specialises in producing quality, handmade products. Obeetee rugs range from hand-knotted to hand-tufted to flat woven.  Their hand-knotted wool rugs were the first rugs to use the ‘Woolmark’ license mark, as well as the ‘Wools of New Zealand’ mark more recently in the 1990s. Prices for a hand-knotted rug range from approximately $35 to $150 per square foot.

If you’re on a tighter budget, then it’s well worth considering a flat woven Obeetee rug.  The quality is just as good, but at a cheap price.  Their current Kilim collection retails at $12 per square foot, and has a large range of styles and colors. If you have a few more bucks to spend, then their Sahara II collection retails at $20 per square foot, and is both beautiful and traditional.
